The Art Research Institute (ARI), founded in 1977 by internationally
acclaimed nature photographer Joey Fischer, is the only company
worldwide dedicated solely to the creation of healing environments
for high-stress treatment areas, with a particular focus on radiology/diagnostic
imaging and radiotherapy.
Known as Visual Therapy, Fischer’s photographic nature imagery
wrap ceilings and walls with calming CeilingMural Transparencies
and INDOWs, ARI’s Wall/Mural Transparencies. Patients undergoing
treatment can stare up into illuminated panels of treetops and clouds
while being surrounded by backlit wall imagery of gardens or beaches.
Relaxed patients are more receptive/responsive to treatment and
consequently make speedier recoveries.
Fischer’s 27 years of pioneering work in stress-reducing environments
was inducted into the archives of the Smithsonian in Washington,
D.C., in 1998 and his work has been incorporated into more than
