RITA develops, manufactures, and markets ablation technology products
used by physicians to treat patients with solid cancerous or benign
tumors. The RITA System is a ground-breaking, minimally invasive
treatment option for cancer patients with unresectable (inoperable)
tumors. RITA’s RFA procedure, which can be used alone or in
combination with other treatments, uses radiofrequency energy to
deliver controlled thermal energy to targeted tissue at a temperature
high enough to destroy the tumor or cause cell death. Our portfolio
of products includes disposable electrosurgical devices, radiofrequency
generators, introducers, and software.
Used by surgical oncologists, hepatobiliary surgeons,
liver transplant surgeons, laparoscopists, and interventional radiologists,
the RITA System has to date received two FDA approvals: as a treatment
with few side effects or complications for patients with liver lesions
and as a treatment for the excruciating pain that often accompanies
metastatic bone cancer. RITA Medical Systems is focused on developing
minimally invasive RFA products that enhance the lives of cancer
patients across the world.
