AHRA will be “Rockin’ in the Rockies” at its 47th annual meeting and exposition in Denver this year. The grand opening is on Monday, July 22, but there are several activities scheduled for Sunday to kick off the conference, including the Imaging Classic golf tournament and workshops dedicated to the certified radiology administrator exam, executive leadership, and cultivating accountability. There are also a couple of breakout sessions in the afternoon, featuring topics such as alternative payment models, managing workplace conflict, and surviving a radiography lawsuit.

Olympic skier and motivational speaker Vince Poscente is delivering the keynote for the grand opening, with a talk on the theme of “Full Speed Ahead.” The exhibit hall is open from 11 AM to 2 PM, so make sure you leave some time to check out the latest and greatest medical imaging technology. Some of Monday’s breakout session topics include MR safety, assessing cardiac risk in endurance athletes, and successful implementation of DR across a regional health system.

On Tuesday, the exhibit hall is open once again from 11 AM to 2 PM, and breakout sessions on data languages, coding tips and traps, and capital planning for radiology are on tap. The keynote speaker for the general session is Ross Shafer, whose talk is titled “Success: It’s on You.”

After breakfast on Wednesday, some notable breakout sessions include topics such as building a large radiology service line, navigating change using data, MRI magic, and preparing for the approaching data storm. The exhibit hall is open at 11 AM but closes at 1:30 PM. To wrap things up for the closing session, Manley Feinberg talks about “Leading on the Edge: 7 Vertical Lessons & 1 Essential Question to Lead With Impact, Regardless of Your Title.”

If you’re looking to sample some of Denver’s highlights while you’re in town, the region is renowned for its scenery and natural wonders. If you like to hike, you’ve come to the right place. There are also plenty of shopping and dining options to suit any taste, and there’s a thriving craft brew culture, with more than 200 different beers brewed daily in the city.

Enjoy the show!
