It’s that time of the year again when radiology professionals from around the globe gather at McCormick Place in Chicago for the RSNA Annual Meeting. As per tradition, this year’s meeting will be held both virtually and in person.
The blustering chill of Sunday, December 1, ushers in sessions on AI, image interpretation, cardiac imaging education, and epilepsy imaging. As always, there are a plethora of sponsored sessions in the mix as well, including “Communication Errors in Radiology and How to Avoid Them,” sponsored by the RSNA Research Development Committee, and “Strategic Career Moves Beyond Clinical Practice,” sponsored by the American Association for Women in Radiology.
Curtis P. Langlotz, MD, PhD, will present this year’s president’s address, titled “Building Intelligent Connections.” Following, Nina Ellen Kottler, MD, MS, will present the opening session, “The Only Way to Predict the Future Is to Create It.”
Warm up Monday, December 2, with sessions on hip imaging, multienergy CT in the emergency department, multimodality thoracic aortic imaging, and prostate cancer imaging. Be sure to tune in to a few sponsored sessions as well, such as: “Planetary Health and Radiology: Actionable Steps to Decrease Our Environmental Impact,” sponsored by the RSNA Professionalism Committee, and “The ROI of AI,” sponsored by the RSNA Associated Sciences Consortium.
Cozy up to one of the day’s plenary sessions, “AI’s Transformation of Medicine,” presented by Eric Topol, MD, and moderated by Ángel Gómez-Cintrón, MD, MPH.
Tuesday, December 3, keeps the ball rolling with interesting sessions on social AI, mental health among health care professionals, everything you need to know about fibroids, and PET/CT for brain, dementia, and tumors. Be sure to bounce over and check out some sponsored sessions, like “Economics of Imaging,” sponsored by the RSNA Associated Sciences Consortium, and “Immersive Imaging – The Intersection of Evolving Technologies,” sponsored by the RSNA 3D Printing Special Interest Group.
Don’t forget to check out one of the day’s plenary sessions as well, “Social Artificial Intelligence,” presented by Nicholas Christakis, MD, PhD, MPH.
On Wednesday, December 4, the technical exhibit hall closes out, but there’s still plenty to see and do with sessions on breast imaging changes (with the ASRT), proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy, gender-affirming surgery and health in the trans community, knee imaging, and imaging markers of stroke risk. Sponsored sessions include “Advancements in Breast Cancer Detection With Contrast-Enhanced Mammography,” sponsored by Hologic and Bayer, and “Success for Mid-Career Radiologists Across the Board,” sponsored by the RSNA Research and Development Committee.
Step right up to the day’s plenary session game show: “Microbial Mayhem: The Pathogenic Party You Won’t Forget!” moderated by Linda Probyn, MD, and Lindsey Negrete, MD.
The Annual Meeting isn’t over yet, on Thursday, December 5, with sessions such as breast imaging AI, cerebrospinal fluid imaging in clinical practice, genitourinary imaging, and hot topics in emergency radiology. Sponsored sessions for the day include “Accelerating Patient Care Through the Electronic Medical Record,” sponsored by the RSNA Research Development Committee, and “Growing Green Radiology,” sponsored by the RSNA Professionalism Committee.
The RSNA Annual Meeting wraps up with one last plenary session, “RSNA/AAPM Symposium: Together We Can Make a Difference,” on the trajectory of technological innovations within the health care field. The event will be presented by David A. Jaffray, PhD, Caroline Chung, MD, FRCPC, and moderated by Lifeng Yu, PhD.
